This cow was painted with acrylic paints in a collage design taken for the painting “The Persistence of Memory.” In his left eye, the complete painting is visible. In each of his ears a landscape, typical of Dali is painted. The tree growing from one of his horns is a real branch, stripped of bark and painted to match the other horn. The artist modeled his melting clock with various layers of paper mache and fiberglass.
Salvador Dali’s surrealistic paintings always provoke curiosity and smiles in people of all ages – but especially in children. The artist states, “If we could find humor in the simple things of life, as Dali did in this famous painting “The Persistence of Memory”, each day would be so much more enriched. Hopefully, my cow will bring a smile or two as one realizes that we have no more control over the passage of time than does this cow wandering down the street with a melting clock on his horn.”
