Persistence of Memoory was inspired by the artists admiration of the Spanish surrealist painter, Salvador Dali. Hedrick claims, I have always been interested and influenced by his artwork. His use of strong color and light, his incredible technical painting abilities and his bizarre subject matter has always intrigued me. I believe this particular Dali painting is probably the most recognizable of all his work. The melting clock was sculpted with 2-part polystyrene foam, hard coated with epoxy polymers and then the entire cow was painted with acrylics, using mainly an airbrush.
