To create the impression of the sea, artist, Karen Balzer, used phthalo green and phthalo blue as a background for the unique and colorful images. To give an impression of outer space, she added windows for a view of earth. The unusual creatures are composed of rich colors of the spectrum. For humor, she inserted human-like eyes, lips and hands, at strategic places. This artist forgot nothing; it is a delight to the eyes. Wouldnt you like to have her at your next masquerade party?
Karen Balzers career stared as a child in California where she was an expert at making mud pies. To this day, she creates sculptures out of mud. Her skills as a sculptor and painter have been honed by several years of study at the Glassell School of Fine Art in Houston. She lives in Missouri City, Texas with her husband and three children.
This remarkable statue can now be yours. So, be part of the fun, and help an incredible cause along the way. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Texas Childrens Hospital Building for Children capital campaign and will help fund the expansion of the Texas Childrens Cancer Center.
