“I’ve always been attracted to the artists from the ‘Pop Art’ moovement. I thought of plays on artists’ names and came up with Lichtenholstein. I created a Holstein cow in the painting style of Roy Lichtenstein. He was famous for using Benday patterns in his Pop works. I not only wanted to honor a great Pop artist, I also wanted to educate the public on how old processes can influence new ideas. Above all, I wanted this to be funny to children.”
