Title: Lascow
Location: Episcopal High School - Learning Resource Center: 4650 Bissonet at Loop 610
Artist: EHS Visual Arts Department
Sponsor: The Brown Foundation

Lascow was inspired by the paintings found on the walls of the Paleolithic cave at Lascaux, France. This site provides evidence that some of the earliest images created by humans were of aurochs, ancestors of today's cow. Lascow endeavors to remind us that cows have been an important source of sustenance, myth, and art since prehistory. Lascow has been modeled and painted to reflect the interior of caves, with earth tones, textures, and surfaces that include renderings of animals and handprints. Lascow invites exploration!

Episcopal High School is a private, all-laptop school established for the purpose of providing a superior education in preparation for college and a significant life afterward. The award-winning visual arts program offers courses in art history as well as studio courses in drawing, design, graphic design, painting, ceramics, and sculpture. Visit us at www.ehshouston.org.

This cow was sold in Flight 2 of the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that ran from December 8 - 14, 2001.
