Holy Cow, Let’s Play Ball features all three new sports arenas in Houston. This pun of a cow works on two levels, according to artist Suzanne Sellers – “Holy Cow was a famous saying of Harry Kary, the famous sports announcer for the Chicago Cubs. The cow can works on two levels. One, the title refers to the holes in the cow, and two, all sports enthusiasts will make the connection to the announcer.” The series of ovals represent the holes, and inside the holes, the three new sports arenas as well as other various sporting images are displayed. The area outside of the holes is covered in a series of criss-crossing roads.
Suzanne Sellers classifies herself as a “2-D visual artist” working on murals as well as smaller scale work. Two of Sellers murals can be seen in Houston at Market Square and the Chase Bank mural at Milan and Capitol. Her smaller scale work is primarily contemporary figurative and architectural with a focus on strong design and color.
