According to artist Nancy Conrad, “Bright and colorful ruffles, castanets and combs from Spain, a shawl with fringe and a rose in her mouth were some of the tools I used to evoke a sly sense of humor. Bath scrubbers sprayed black, film cans for eyelashes and shower rings for earrings were part of the assemblage. Her hair has the classic Flamenco Widows Peak style. The heart beauty mark completes the look. I wanted children to enjoy the bright colors and adults to chuckle at her slightly sarcastic smile.”
Ms. Conrad, a native Houstonian, earned a BFA in Painting and Art History from Randolph Macon Woman's College, her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, shehas toured nationally with The Women and Their Work Exhibition. Conrad is presently listed in Who's Who of American Art and Who's Who of American Women.
