Title: Cow Twombly
Location: Tranquillity Park: Smith and Walker
Artist: Christopher Olivier
Bexar
Sponsor: Keith and Kathleen Vogel

Artist Bexar wanted to create a cow using a famous artist’s name. ‘Moondrian’ was done and so was ‘Picowso’, as well as ‘Moonet.’ Then he thought of the Menil and came up with Cow Twombly. “I have always been amazed by Cy Twombly’s work since the first time I saw his paintings. When I paint, it is in a similar style to his. I immediately went to his museum in Montrose (on the Menil grounds) and started formulating the design. I wanted something that children would think was funny. So I studies his chalkboard like paintings and ‘Cow Twombly’ was born.” Cow Twombly is a masterpiece in her own right and looks forward to showing herself off in your home.

The artist’s sculptures are created from mostly discarded parts of electrical equipment, which he recycles. Bexar’s work has been shown throughout Houston and Texas.

This cow was sold in Flight 4 of the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that ran from December 15 - 21, 2001.
