Title: Cow Chip
Location: Greenway Plaza: Richmond between Timmons and Edloe
Artist: John Robb
Sponsor: FKP Architects, Inc.

Looking for a unique piece of art for your home, garden, or office? Look no further--that is, if you're interested in a work with a bit of a bovine feel. This beautiful bovine is one of the nearly 330 life-size cows painted and sculpted by Houston-area artists and seen throughout Houston this summer as part of CowParade Houston 2001. This remarkable statue can be yours. Be part of the fun, and help an incredible cause along the way. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Texas Children’s Hospital Building for Children capital campaign and will help fund the expansion of the Texas Children’s Cancer Center.

The body color of Cow Chip approximates the color of a personal computer “motherboard.” The design of copper striping gives the allusion of natural Holstein coloration patterns. Who would have thought to create a cow as a computer component or maybe even cow robotics?

Cow Chip highlights the little known role of Houston in the microelectronics industry. It celebrates the business community that can combine high tech science and industry with the bravado of a trail drive.

This cow was sold in Flight 3 of the internet auction hosted by Amazon.com that ran from December 12 - 18, 2001.
