Title: Vaca Pinata
Location: Westheimer and Post Oak Blvd.: Center at Post Oak
Artist: Cookie Ashton
Sponsor: Weingarten Realty

In the artist's words, "Fashioned from a long tradition, the festive piñata continues to enchant celebrations and parties throughout the world. The bright colors, assorted themes, and the suspense of what's inside all contribute to the delight of young and old alike. Piñatas were first introduced in Mexico around the 14th century and have become just as familiar in Texas due to our states proximity and ever-growing Hispanic population. As a native Texan born in the Rio Grande Valley, piñatas were very much a part of my childhood. Vaca Piñata I have designed in an attempt to pass on those happy memories."

This cow was sold in Flight 2 of the internet auction hosted by that ran from December 8 - 14, 2001.
