The cow was intended to represent a traditional stagecoach with real wagon wheels and luggage rack. The wheels were purchased from a company in Montana that restores and creates authentic wheels for stagecoaches. Like the original Concord Coach, the western landscape scene is painted on one of the stagecoach doors. An updated view of downtown Houston is shown on the other side. The color of the stagecoach and wagon wheels was researched to reflect the color of the original coach.
The cow was painted to match a Jersey mile cow, reflecting the name of the town, Jersey Village-Texas where Dean and his family live. The gold lettering was painted free-hand and took as long to paint as the rest of the entire cow. The word company was misspelled on purpose. Deans daughters helped their dad paint parts of the cow and in return he has hidden their initials in the gold coach pinstripes.
According to the artists, We enjoyed creating a cow that reflects a rich historical significance for the people at Wells Fargo Bank and we hope that our Stage COWch makes you smile when you see it pull into town.
